Celebrating TWO years of freedom!

Two Years Since We Fired the Milk Truck: A Reflection of Gratitude and Growth

Two years ago, we stood at the edge of something unknown, hearts pounding and hands shaking just a little, as we made a decision that would forever change the way our farm did business: we fired the milk truck.

At the time, it felt bold, maybe even reckless to some. The milk truck was the link between our raw milk and the modern food system, a system that no longer reflected the values we held dear. We wanted more than just to produce food. We wanted to nourish families. We wanted to know our customers. We wanted to be part of the healing work—of the soil, the body, and the community.

And so, we said goodbye to the truck, the contracts, and the middlemen, and began building something new. Something direct. Something true.

Two years later, we find ourselves in awe.

We’ve grown not just in the volume of milk we pour into glass jars each week, but in the relationships we’ve built jar by jar, family by family. We’ve added new pickup locations, including our newest in Jamestown, NY. We’ve taught kids where milk really comes from. We’ve held the hands of customers walking through food allergies and healing journeys.

And through it all, we’ve learned:

  • That transparency and connection are worth more than any certification

  • That when people understand where their food comes from, they care more — about the land, the animals, and their own health

  • That trust is built in small ways: showing up with cold milk on hot days, remembering a name, sharing a recipe

  • That community grows not in grocery aisles but in farm fields, emails, text threads, and unexpected conversations at pickup

  • That we are not in this alone

To every family who believed in us, who took a leap with us, who brought our milk home and made it part of your story — thank you. You are the reason this works. You are the reason our farm is thriving in its own quiet, powerful way.

We’ve still got work to do. There are more folks to reach, more land to steward, more jars to fill. But today, we pause to remember what was, to give thanks for what is, and to press forward in hope for what will be.

Here’s to two years of direct connection, raw nourishment, and regenerative growth.

With hearts full of gratitude,The Sunny Cove Farm Family
