Sunny Cove Farm 100% Pure Maple Syrup
A family tradition for generations, the tapping of the sugar bush and sweet smell of Maple Syrup continues at Sunny Cove Farm every spring. The whole family; Jerry, Dotty, Kelby, Meghan, Kevin, Isaac, Joseph, John, and Brian all get involved in the production of pure Maple Syrup with all of the sap being collected the old fashioned way with buckets.
The New Sugar House
On February 9, 2009 Sunny Cove Farm started construction on our brand new 20' x 54' sugar house to house a 40" x 12' wood fired evaporator. The construction process was completed on March 9, 2009.
This sugar house features a 2,500 gallon stainless steel tank for
sap storage to supply sap to our pre-heater in the steam hood which
uses steam to heat the sap prior to entering the pans. The
combination of the sap pre-heater and the air tight firebox which
has combustion enhanced by a forced draft blower raises the
efficiency of the wood fired evaporator by both capturing more of
the heat and causing more complete combustion of the wood.
Did you know?
-It takes 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup?
- -At Sunny Cove Farm we have over 1500 buckets that collect maple sap.
- -On the larger trees we can hang up to five buckets.
We hope you enjoy the pictures of this building process and invite you to come and smell the sap boiling, taste the delicious maple syrup and see the evaporator boiling the sap. We are keeping our prices the same and have a good supply available for sale today! Come visit us during the Maple season which is typically late February through early April. ~ The Snyder Family
